Desert Express normally departs for a luxury train safari from Windhoek Station. Partake in the wine tasting excursion and visit a Game Ranch the following day.

The dress code on board the Desert Express is elegant / casual. The Desert Express is elegant and guests are kindly asked to refrain from wearing shorts and sandals in the Welwitschia Restaurant. However comfortable shoes and clothing are recommended for the excursions on this luxury train.
Desert Express has nine coaches, permanently linked via drawbar to minimize coupling and for improved ride comfort. The train has twenty-four compartments, each accommodating one, two or three passengers. Please advise in writing at least one week prior to departure so that the necessary arrangements may be attended to. Children remain under the supervision of their parents on this Namibia tour. Desert Express accepts no responsibility for children during excursions. Children younger than 10 years may enjoy their meals in the Bistro Restaurant, whilst older children are able to utilise all facilities on board. There are no baby facilities such as cots, etc on board this luxury Namibia train.
Day 1: Windhoek, Namibia
Depart from Windhoek 14:30 (No lunch) Biltong stop at Okahandja. Dinner & overnight on the train. Train stationary for the night at Kranzberg.
Day 2: Walvis Bay, Namibia
Arrive in the coastal town of Walvis Bay, Namibia. Transfer to yacht club for a dolphin cruise. On the cruise you can make physical contact with the seals. Visit pelican point where you will get close with a colony of Cape fur seals.
Have lunch onboard of the cruise and after lunch it's back to the yacht club and then proceeds by bus to visit the salt pan, and the lagoon where you might see plenty of flamingos and afterwards a visit to dune 7 and then back to Swakopmund. Dinner, overnight & breakfast on the train.
Day 3: Swakopmund, Namibia
Sightseeing tour around Swakopmund and to the Welwitchia and the moon landscapes with a pick nick lunch in the Desert. Depart after lunch for Otjiwarongo for overnight on the train.
Day 4: Etosha, Namibia
Depart by bus to Etosha southern gate at Okakuejo. Check in, lunch, rest and afternoon game drive. Evening can be spent at the spectacular water hole.
Day 5: Halali, Namibia
After breakfast you will travel to Halali on a slow game drive where you will check in, enjoy lunch and rest. Go on an afternoon game drive and after dinner you can spend the evening at the water hole.
Day 6: Otjiwarongo, Namibia
After breakfast you will go on a game drive towards the Namutoni Gate where you will exit and transfer to the train departing for Windhoek. Dinner & overnight on train at Otjiwarongo.
Day 7: Windhoek, Namibia
Depart for Windhoek with breakfast and lunch on the train. Visit the craft market in Okahandja. Arrive back in Windhoek at 14h00.
